As we close the curtain on another eventful year, we look back with a sense of pride and gratitude for all that we were able to accomplish together. Our Network had a year filled with challenges, triumphs, and progress in our ongoing mission to protect and preserve the beautiful nations we call home.
Throughout 2024, we’ve been inspired by the dedication and resilience of our communities, members, and partners across the region. From local and grassroots initiatives to collaborative efforts across the region, every action, no matter how small, has played an integral role in our collective fight against the climate crisis.

2024 Highlights
We launched the Imagine Caribbean Mentorship Programme
In January, we launched our first Imagine Caribbean Mentorship Programme – a 6-month programme which provided support and resources to participants from Suriname, Guyana, and Trinidad & Tobago to develop their organising skills and climate leadership.
This initiative empowered participants to develop innovative climate solutions projects, focusing on critical areas such as food security, workers’ rights, and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable populations in their communities.
We showed our love for the Caribbean
Our love for the Caribbean was palpable as hundreds of passionate individuals from eight Caribbean nations came together for the “I Love the Caribbean” initiative in June. This event created a powerful, unified call for urgent climate action, highlighting the importance of collaboration in tackling this global crisis.
We shared climate stories from the Caribbean
In our ongoing efforts to amplify voices from the Caribbean, we have launched a storytelling programme in July dedicated to highlighting impactful climate narratives. We supported nine dedicated climate activists in crafting compelling videos and blogs that share their personal experiences and the profound impacts of the climate crisis in their respective countries.
These climate stories cover a wide range of pressing issues for the Caribbean, such as extreme heat waves, pollution from a power plant in the Ozama river, climate anxiety, and the growing issue of sargassum on our region’s beaches. They are not just narratives, but vivid portrayals of resilience, adaptation, and hope.
A Strong Voice for Change
Our collective voice is growing! We are proud to report that 5,404 individuals signed our petition urging Caribbean leaders to implement immediate adaptation measures to safeguard our lives and our environment. This overwhelming response reflects our community’s commitment to climate action and emphasises the urgency with which we need our leaders to act. If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to add your name.
Knowledge Sharing
In addition, we published 30 insightful blogs and articles written by members of our network, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and solutions among community members.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the unwavering support of our local groups, partners, and most importantly, YOU! Your engagement has been crucial in driving our mission forward.
Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. We look forward to seeing you in 2025 as we continue to work together for a sustainable Caribbean!
Wishing you a happy holiday and an inspiring 2025,
The Caribbean Climate Network Team
